Vatican has announced that entry will be allowed only to persons holding “Vatican green pass”, “European green pass” or any “foreign green covid certification” proving vaccination, recovery or negative test.

Vatican press office has just announced that as of October 1, 2021 entry will be allowed only to persons holding “Vatican green pass”, “European green pass” or any “foreign green covid certification” proving vaccination, recovery or negative rapid molecular or antigenic test.

Official news release writes: “Starting from October 1st, entry to the Vatican will be allowed only to those with Vatican Green Pass, European Green Pass and foreign covid 19 green certification which certifies vaccination or recovery from SARS-Cov-2, or performing a rapid molecular or antigen test with a negative result for the SARS-Cov-2 virus.”

New Ordinance – which was issued on September 18, 2021 by the President of the “Pontificia Commissione dello Stato della Città del Vaticano” (“Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State”) – states that “these provisions apply to (Vatican) citizens, to residents in the (Vatican) State, to all (Vatican) staff, regardless of their title, working in the Governorate of the Vatican City State and in the various Organizations of the Roman Curia and of all Institutions thereto connected, (as well as) to all visitors and all (Vatican) service users.”

The only exception to new Ordinance concerns Holy Mass and liturgical celebrations. Ordinance says: “An exception is made for those who participate in liturgical celebrations for the time strictly necessary for carrying out the celebration”. During the Holy Mass and liturgical celebrations, nevertheless, “all health prescriptions, such as distancing, use of personal protective equipment, limitation of circulation and gathering of people and adoption of specific hygiene rules shall be strictly respected.”
