NY State Legalizes Late-term Abortion

The State of New York has just passed a bill, which will legalize late-term abortions in the name of the mother’s “health.” The piece of legislation, known as the Reproductive Health Act (RHA), will cement the right to murder the unborn – even when they’re just moments from birth.

RHA, which has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Mark Cuomo, will essentially erase current laws which restrict abortions after the 24-week mark. The new bill adds a widened “health” exception, which legalizes late-term abortion, provided that the “health practitioner” is acting in “good faith.” What “health” means or includes is not defined by the legislation, leaving it open to interpretation. This “health” loophole is so wide that women will likely be able to abort babies late-term for “economic, social or emotional reasons” as well, if they so choose.

On 5h February 2019, in his recent State of the Union speech, President Donald J. Trump appealed to Congress to pass a legislation to prohibit the “late-term abortion of children.” He openly took a stand against RHA declaring: “To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass a legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb. Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth, all children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God“.
