Italy: the Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail

September 17, 2021

Rodin’s gigantic artwork entitled “Porte de l’enfer” (“Gates of hell”) is arriving from Paris to Rome to be opened by the Italian President to the Italian people on 15th October, 2021. On that same day a law extending a mandatory “health pass” to all of Italian workers will enter into force.

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

Just a coincidence?

On 15th October, 2021 an Italian law is to enter into force which extends mandatory health pass for all Italian workers. Italian health pass – which is called “green pass” and has already entered into force a few weeks ago for the health and education sectors – will become mandatory to access any kind of workplace. Italian “green pass” goal is to certify that a worker has been vaccinated or has tested negative for the virus. Workers refusing the jab are to be tested every two days (every 48 hours, i.e. three times a week) at their own expenses.

In the meantime, a gigantic artwork by French sculptor François-Auguste-René Rodin (a loan from Paris museum “Musée d’Orsay”) which is 7-meter high and entitled “Porte de l’enfer” (“Gates of hell”) is arriving to Rome in the next few days to be exhibited at the art exhibition “Inferno” (“Hell”) which will take place at the “Scuderie del Quirinale”, forming part of Quirinale, which is the seat of the Italian President.

On the 15th October, 2021 both abovementioned law, and exhibition “Inferno” and the “Gates of hell” will be opened to the Italian people. “Inferno” exhibition – taking place from 15th October, 2021 to 9th January, 2022 – is part of the celebration for the 700th anniversary of the death of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri, and will be inaugurated, as it seems, by the Italian President himself – the one who has already sealed the health pass law.
